At the end of this post is the whole of Psalm 19 written out so that you can read it before, after, or during the reflection.
God, you made all of creation to worship you. You set the stars, planets, and the moon in the sky oh so perfectly and beautifully. Those small twinkling lights that can be seen from earth are really monstrosities of flaming gas. We humans are so small in comparison to them and yet, you have allowed us to have the intelligence to create machines and cameras powerful enough that we can discover galaxies outside of our own. We find that stars make frequencies that sound like violins. We see meteors shower through our skies in timely beautiful cycles. They declare and proclaim; they show your enormity, your power, your creativity, your glory, and your perfection.
The stars and the expanse of the universe never cease showing your wonder and majesty. From the rising to the setting sun, the stars and moons, and the planets all communicate your intelligent design and existence. There is no excuse to not believe that you exist; you reveal yourself to us in so many magnificent ways. Everything fits together perfectly. Every time slot in the day you fill with wonder and purpose in the expanse of the skies.
The skies and the heavens above all communicate your greatness and yet they do so without using words or voices. Their design points to the Creator all on its own. They do not need words to speak volumes.
God, I thank you for your wonders. For your creativity, how you capture our attention, our eyes, our hearts. You know each of your children. You know that we can’t resist bright and shiny things. The stars are wondrous and multitudinous; we cannot even begin to comprehend their numbers. Yet, you created each; beautiful, special, and with a unique design that stupefies and mesmerizes us who look upon them. Thank you.
The galaxies and stars, planets and moons, all rotate and orbit at different speeds and angles in an incredibly perfect design. All you do is perfect. In your perfection you create. In your perfection and majesty, you renew lives. You are so powerful.
When we walk in your ways we will be glad because we will not have the weight of sin weighing us down. We will be light with the freedom from condemnation. We will be joyous because we know the Truth and that Truth has set us free. We will no longer be slaves in bondage but will be beautiful, light, and free.
The Lord’s power and perfection are so clear and understandable. There is no flaw in His great plan. We can walk in His plan without worry. God your plan for our lives is for our own good, to keep us pure and holy in your sight so that we can be in perfect relationship with you.
For all who believe in Him, His words are desirable. They are like honey, sweet, healthy, and life-giving.
There is a reward for keeping His commands and following Him. We gain freedom in Him with an unhindered relationship. Now, we know that freedom from sin is through Christ and that leads to an eternal reward. We will be united with Him forever in heaven where there is no pain or temptation or sin. We will be in the presence of God forever and will never again be separated from His presence.
Here on this earth, there is temptation and there is sin, and it can be difficult to resist it. We need to ask God for strength. Pray for the Holy Spirit to guard our hearts and our minds. We must fill our minds with things that are pure and lovely and right and holy. Fill our minds with Scripture, the Truth so that through the power of God we can resist the schemes of the devil.
We need to be careful of what we think about and where our thoughts are residing. Ask, “Are they pleasing to God? Do they uplift the people around me? Are they filled with truth and grace and purity?” We need to honour the God of all of creation, power, might, and love not only our actions but with our thoughts.
